SCLA 2020 Global Legal Leaders Dialogue and New Year’s Eve Countdown Dinner will be held from December 31, 2020, at 8:30 pm to January 1, 2021, at 0:30 pm on the 3rd floor of the Venice Hotel in Shenzhen. As of press time, in addition to Tang Xiaobing, Senior Counselor, Market Access Division, World Trade Organization, and Richard Thurston, former General Counsel and Senior Vice President of TSMC, Li Libin, Senior Partner of Zhong Lun Law Firm, Zhou Zhongping, Senior Partner, Dacheng Law Firm, Yan Penghe, Member of Management Committee of Zhong Yin Law Firm, and Hermann Knott, Senior Partner of Andrews Law, will share their views on the dialogue. In addition, Knott and other distinguished guests will participate in the conference as dialogue sharers.
Mr. Yan graduated from Peking University School of Law with a master’s degree in law and is also a senior M&A lawyer and an expert lawyer of the China International Chamber of Commerce. He is proficient in domestic and foreign investment and M&A legal policies and practical skills. He also has great business wisdom and economic acumen, studying in the “GLBE Future Leaders Class” at Peking University Law School. In addition, he has a very good reputation and credibility and is a popular lawyer who is an expert in integrating law and business.
Mr. Li graduated from Sun Yat-sen University School of Law and is a visiting scholar at New York University School of Law and a J.D. at the Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Law. He specializes in private equity and investment funds, mergers and acquisitions, and labor law.
Mr. Li is also an arbitrator of labor disputes at the Labor Arbitration Court of Nansha Free Trade Zone in Guangzhou, a part-time researcher at the Human Rights Research Center of Sun Yat-sen University School of Law, an advisor to the Guangdong Employers’ Joint Conference on Corporate Human Rights, a member of the Guangzhou Lawyers Association’s Committee on Foreign-related Legal Practice, and a Data Protection Officer (DPO) for the EU GDPR at the TÜV Rheinland Institute in Germany.
Mr. Xiao Wanhua is a senior lawyer, an arbitrator of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, and a member of the China Law Society. He specializes in cross-border investment and financing, commercial compliance and commercial crime, commercial litigation, and arbitration. He has an education background in law school, business school, foreign language institute, and experience in high court, foreign real estate company, and overseas listed company. He is familiar with corporate governance and corporate legal affairs and handles foreign-related commercial dispute cases.
He is currently an arbitrator of many institutions, such as the China Trade Arbitration Association and the China Law Society.
Mr. Zhou was selected by the Ministry of Justice as one of the “Thousands of National Foreign-related Talents” and is the permanent legal advisor of the Ministry of Commerce, the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, and many other governments and institutions.
Mr. Zhou has organized the overseas M&A of many listed and private enterprises in Hunan Province. His practice involves foreign investment and cross-border M&A, which includes foreign investment in and out of China, M&A, financing, overseas investment, M&A of Chinese state-owned enterprises, and private enterprises. In addition, she has provided professional and thoughtful legal services to many multinational companies, including Bosch, Standard Chartered Bank, and Laureate Group in China, to protect foreign investors’ legitimate rights and interests. As the project leader, Mr. Zhou has also assisted several Hunan enterprises in their overseas investment and M&A activities.
Mr. Chang Baosheng started his internship at the training department of the All-China Lawyers Association in 1997 and the third law firm in Hainan Province in 1998. He has been a part-time lawyer in Hainan Haida Pingzheng Law Firm since 1999 and has been a full-time lawyer in Guangdong Lilei Law Firm since 2003, serving as a partner of the firm and practicing in the firm continuously for 14 years. On August 1, 2017, Mr. Chang Baosheng Mr. Chang Baosheng founded the sole proprietorship of Guangdong Shengbao Law Firm and served as the firm’s director.
The event is divided into three parts: theme forum sharing, New Year’s Eve dinner, and fireworks viewing, which will combine a three-hour main forum and a one-and-a-half-hour New Year’s Eve dinner.
It is reported that the forum will invite representatives of international organizations, government representatives, as well as prominent lawyers and corporate representatives from the legal profession and their family and friends to participate in addition to online participation by legal leaders and corporate representatives from more than 20 countries and regions. The dialogue will take the form of a thematic forum to review 2020 and look ahead to 2021; it will discuss topics such as China and world trade, trade secrets and intellectual property protection, capital market review and outlook, the legal profession, and future dialogue.
