What Changed
- Launch of the 'Privacy for Kids' platform by EDPB in cooperation with European DPAs including CNIL.
- Aggregation of multilingual educational content tailored for children aged 8–10, 11–15, parents, and teachers.
- Publication of interactive media formats addressing online privacy, cookies, safety, social networks, and mobile applications.
Parents, teachers, educators, and young internet users across Europe face growing challenges in navigating digital environments safely. Recognizing that children are particularly vulnerable to online risks, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), working in partnership with data protection authorities across Europe—including France's Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL)—has officially launched a dedicated educational platform titled 'Privacy for Kids' (Protection de la vie privée des enfants).
Designed to support children and their families and educators, the platform serves as a centralized hub for educational resources produced by European data protection authorities. The materials are structured to help young users understand personal data protection and adopt safe online habits. Content is tailored for specific target groups, including dedicated resources for children aged 8 to 10, youth aged 11 to 15, parents, and teachers.
To make privacy concepts accessible and engaging across multiple languages, 'Privacy for Kids' features diverse interactive and visual formats, such as videos, quizzes, comic books, podcasts, and online games. The educational content covers essential digital topics, including methods for protecting personal data, understanding user rights online, explaining the function of cookies, remaining safe on digital platforms, balancing privacy at home and school, and navigating social networks, smartphones, and mobile applications.
Through this joint initiative, European data protection authorities aim to strengthen digital literacy and empower families and schools with authoritative tools to build awareness around privacy rights from an early age.
Who May Be Affected
