The All-India Association of Industries was founded in 1956 by Mr. Shri Babubhai M. Chinai, MP, Member of Parliament, in Mumbai, the commercial capital of India. The association has over 1500 members and represents over 50,000 industries through its affiliates. Nearly 70% of the members are from the SME sector. With the dramatic changes brought about by rapid globalization, mergers and acquisitions have become the order of the day. To a large extent, the All-India Industries Association caters to the requirements of SMEs in this process.

AIAI strives to support and strengthen SMEs and assist them in integrating into the global marketplace. All India Industries Association helps SMEs accelerate their global business network by finding reliable business partners in more than 50 countries. Activities promote and facilitate the development of SMEs through seminars, workshops, trade fairs, business conferences, overseas trade missions, and organizing delegations from its members to other countries. All-India Association of Industries provides information on domestic and international trade, investment, technology, and innovation. AIAI represents its members in various national and regional government agencies and the Reserve Bank of India for issues of relevance to its members.

AIAI has signed 250 cooperation agreements with international trade promotion agencies and chambers of commerce to exchange trade-related information and trade missions promote joint ventures and technology alliances, thereby contributing to the globalization process. AIAI is an authorized issuer of Certificates of Origin by the Ministry of Commerce of India. AIAI attends WTO ministerial meetings in Singapore, Geneva, Seattle, and Oman in an advisory capacity and participates in the WTO Forum meetings held in Geneva every September. AIAI also represents the employer side as part of the Government of India delegation to Geneva’s International Labour Organization meetings as an advisor.

The Swiss-Chinese Law Association is in active consultation with the All-India Association of Industries to further deepen cooperation on promoting legal cooperation incorporating technological innovation, intellectual property protection, and localization.
