Ms. Zhang visited the Geneva office of the Swiss-Chinese Law Association (SCLA) and had an in-depth discussion with Mr. Zhang Tianze and Mr. Laura Devin.
Ms. Devin introduced to Ms. Zhang the mission of the SCLA. As an independent, professional and diversified legal association, SCLA provides a platform for all lawyers interested in promoting legal exchanges between Switzerland and China to communicate freely. Furthermore, the association hopes to enhance the understanding and mutual trust between Swiss and Chinese lawyers through various activities, narrow the cultural differences between the two countries, and foster closer cooperation.
Director Zhang Tianze introduced a series of upcoming activities of the association’s membership network to Ms. Zhang Jiejing. The association has more than 70 members from Switzerland and China, including more than 20 senior lawyers and partners from major Chinese firms such as King & Wood Mallesons, Zhong Lun, and Junhe. This October, the association will continue to organize China law seminars to introduce Chinese legal rules and practices to Swiss lawyers. In addition, the association will hold a Swiss-Chinese international senior legal talent exchange event in November. More than 10 invited Chinese lawyers will visit top international law firms, international organizations, and the Supreme Court of Switzerland. The event aims to build a bridge between the Swiss and Chinese legal professionals.
Ms. Zhang said that the vision of the Swiss-Chinese Law Association echoes the internationalization strategy of Jingheng Law Firm. Jingheng Vancouver was officially established in August 2018, and Jingheng will enter the European market in 2019. She believes that the SCLA serves as a bridgehead and hopes to deepen the cooperation between BOE and SCLA to promote Chinese law firms’ participation in international affairs.
